Antline 3157 LED bulbs and rear lamp bulbs

The 3157 LED bulb is the most common rear bulb on North American cars and trucks — brake and tail light, reverse light, and the front turn signal with parking light on many Chevrolet, Ford and Ram models. Antline makes it, plus 7443, 1157 and 1156, in bright white, amber and red.

What is a 3157 bulb used for?

A 3157 is a dual-filament wedge base: one filament for the parking or tail light, a brighter one for the brake light or turn signal. On a Chevrolet Silverado or Ford F-150 the front turn bulb is often a 3157 doing parking light and front turn duty; at the rear it runs brake and tail, or reverse on its own.

What bulb is equivalent to 3157?

3156, 3057, 3457, 4057, 4157 and their K and NA versions share the same base. A 3156 is single filament; a 3157 LED fits both sockets. CK sockets are wired differently, so check the code on your vehicle's original bulb.

Can I replace my turn signal bulb with LED?

Yes. Use amber for an amber lens or a switchback for white parking light plus amber turn signal. Because an LED draws less current than the halogen standard, many vehicles blink fast; one 50W 6Ω load resistor per bulb fixes it.

Which is the brightest?

The lensed 21-chip series puts out 1260 lumens per bulb; the 24-chip white version 1200; the compact 33-chip series 1000 lumens in a short body for tight housings. Red bulbs behind red brake lenses look brighter than white because the lens doesn't filter the colour.
